I know these are dreaded words among Star Wars fans but couldn’t they do it CGI? The blue skin and eyes I mean. Not sure which would be more costly between the cgi or practical.

#Thrawn in LIVE ACTION:

Practical FX vs CGI for that character who is human for all intensive purposes but has blue skin and red eyes. Which would be a more believable character that suspends your disbelief? Most aliens of note (that people have liked) are practical. Spock, Klingons, Chewie, even Darth Vader – STAR WARS, so why not use that for Thrawn?

The purpose of a movie is to tell a story in motion pictures in a particular way, not to show off all these special super saucy stuff. If they don’t have the minimum requirements to tell a story, then what would be the purpose in LIVE ACTION?

First, test it out on animation, and then get what you definitely must need with lighting, color, pantone, hue, the discriminators on the Photoshop that can be used, blur, frames per second, etc. BEFORE you ruin a $125 per roll of

a 90 minute movie shot on Super 16 recans at a 4-1 ratio on a movie camera.

Star Wars Rebels is processed by computer as there is no film, but computer costs start $400,000 per episode.

Thrawn has ONLY been on very bad 1990s-ish days of video games. Back then, they did not have anywhere near the tech they do in CGI. The issue is, he was only created on LIVE action stock images once and people didn’t like the look. At least you can mess up on Animation and change it. You can’t do that with LIVE action film – as easily.

Then you will get a Disney executive who doesn’t know Star Wars and thinks they do and ask, who is this blue guy and why would I want him in a LIVE action show? I’d rather have those dailies and Nielsen ratings data prepared before I commit a $1 million for a production with the kinds of make up it will take to create a LIVE Thrawn. I’m not saying it can’t be done, I’m asking HOW? What make up paint color are you going to use? How much prosthetic work that does cost money will be done? Who is going to do it? There are good people and others, what will that investment look like? Then the eye stuff is serious requiring a physician to attend to any injuries. That’s SAG requirements.

If Disney decides to LIVE ACTION with Thrawn, then here is our choice for the character:

It’s his hair. Star Wars men are about the hair. They have that glam hair. For Luke Evans, Dracula Untold, has that hair at the very beginning.

Just a little shorter and firmed up in the back…Um yeah…We ought to get him to say the immortal words. Besides Luke Evans is playing the live action Gaston in Beauty and the Beast, so Disney already has a contract with him.
