This was the first thing that came to my mind when Bendu gave Thrawn the prophecy. Also, @white-rainbowff wrote a drabble for it<3
“I see your defeat. Like many arms surrounding you in a cold embrace.”
He was so close to victory.
But then they grabbed his wrists.
They seized his legs. Forced him to his knees.
They coiled around his neck, slithered around his body. Greedy tendrils of darkness held his bare form, exposed, vulnerable and alone.
Victory was becoming little more than a flickering star, dying and distant.
“No,” he growled through gritted teeth. “It does not end like this. It cannot.”
The more he struggled, the tighter their shadowy grip became.
And as he cried out in defiance, icy fingers slid into his mouth, silencing his protests.
Once it had been ego that brought him towards the light.
It would be ego that sank him into the cold embrace of defeat.
