Why I Was In Star Wars Rebels, First?

My likeness of all images before Disney is this simple image.

The Commemorative Commercial

In the TIE Fighter video game, Grand Admiral Thrawn did have red pupils in red sclera. But in the 1990s, video game high definition was nowhere near as it is today. The look and moves are choppy in the mid-90s.

Today, Grand Admiral Thrawn has been chosen to look like this video:

We call this Le Vernissage — sound quality is imperfect

The uniform is updated to cleaner lines. The blue hues and shadows with shading give a defined appearance, yet the viewer knows it is animation. The only thing that has not changed that much is the tenor or tonality of Grand Admiral Thrawn’s voice. Similar rises and falls as Thrawn speaks.

Why was Grand Admiral Thrawn added to Star Wars Rebels first?

Testing ground.

If you did not know, alien lead characters are not appreciated by human culture on Earth. The bipartite face of 2 eyes, one nose and a mouth with forehead on top and head hair, to 2 arms and 2 legs. The only noticeable difference between humans and Thrawn as a Chiss, is his blue skin and red-in-red eyes that are “striking”. He is suppose to appear menacing. Whether that is due to him being a high command officer in the Imperial Navy of the Galactic Empire or him as a Chiss or both is not clearly know.

Thrawn can appear to have softness, but that was only shown one time.

When doing animation of unique characters that are very complex, making the human facial characteristics and emotions similar with quirks only given by the writers, production and actors is a planned and coordinated event. Several takes are made with different angles and shots and modifications on the massively high-powered computers. The length in time to get his 3-4 minutes shot and then the next shot of similar time is extensive.

Would you rather do this within a movie timeframe under live actions with actors not able to be familiar with the character in time to deliver the kinds of intonations that Grand Admiral Thrawn has and then have no idea how to do the cinematography and the post-production work?

Disney Corporation does not do business that way. They want it all laid out first to make it easy than to build from scratch — especially for Star Wars and probably for reasons related to the fan audience. Why expend the money only to be told in massive social media campaign that what was done was done poorly?

Have Disney Corporation learned?

Interesting questions since there is a new round of prequel Thrawn Chiss novels that fall under some trope to show Thrawn possibly as a child growing up in Chiss Space.

To this blog, that is not surprising Disney would ask Timothy Zahn to write such a idea. Or even if Timothy Zahn decided he would do it. Thrawn as a character is the first Chiss every fan really knows since 1991.

So to write a bunch of other Chiss characters not constructed from a standard timeline and format and then ask fans to “love them” is to write fan-fiction, not a serious novel that Zahn is going to have finished by May, 2020.

However, Mr. Zahn chooses to write for Disney, because that is what this issue is really about, is the probably the way that all Chiss will be viewed for a long time. That is what Disney needs to move ahead for live action Thrawn.

The best one can do is follow true Star Wars timeline and factors that are going on. Allegedly, Thrawn is at least 3-5 years younger than Anakin Skywalker. As fans we can nail that concept down rather fast.

What are your ideas we can do?

We can’t do Heir to the Empire. That will not work for this series of books.
