In 2015, before the announcement of my presence in Star Wars Rebels, my group, Star Wars Actors Guild 77 sent our “arts and crafts” divisional “Ysalamiri” to Lucasfilm. We were told bluntly that Dave Filoni did not want ysalamiri. At any rate, we defied him by handing out Ysalamiri at our SWAG77 booth and giving some to Timothy Zahn who LOVED them.
We went with an “arts and craft” project for the kids. It was suppose to something where the kids could get involved as an art project in Star Wars. It did not turn out to be that way, but that was our intention.
Then Thrawn was announced at Star Wars Celebration Europe in Germany and we could not attend.
You know, for the amount of hate we get, you’d think we are a billion dollar corporation fully supported by Disney Lucasfilm. We are not. Far from it. All we are trying to do is appreciate THRAWN through roleplay performance and fandom. That is our goal. That has always been our goal.
If we had known that squid-whales (purrgils) would choke out Thrawn, we would have made strong fight back to get Ysalamiri into the Thrawn story. But we need more people for that. 3-5 fans does not work. There is strength in numbers. Barraging Lucasfilm with Ysalamiri daily in a coordinated fashion. People predict all that they want, but that does not matter for the amount of standing up and protesting that has to be done to make these people comply to our fan servicing. Now we do not know if Thrawn will be in another media project with Lucasfilm, it’s highly possible, but not inevitable. To make them do it requires people on ONE ACCORD that bashing each other because they don’t like a ship or don’t like movie. Because it can push Disney on the brink of ENDING Lucasfilm productions altogether. That’s real. If folks want that, then hey, hate SWAG77 busting them on Twatter all you like. But the reality is, you should be about the fandom than bashing fans. Just saying.

y’all need more chill guys, trying to do things goes way better when you present it in a kind, calm manner rather than confrontationally. Its always about the hate you get, maybe just ignore it and post the positive stuff without talking about the hate? Like there’s some good content here, but you draw away from the substance by pointing at other people’s behavior, just push what you have to give to fandom.
That said; Filoni already talked about the potential of Ysalimiri and Myrkr in a far more positive light than just ‘doesn’t want them’ – that the statues/planet in Thrawn’s office was meant to be a representation of them, and that they were not discovered in the current timeline, if the significance of the statue is known, its known as a myth. Its an opening left for them to be used later, but its reasonable that he/Disney wouldn’t want them openly used in the OT era as it’s too much of a deus ex machina that brings the validity of the original story into question. I’m reasonably comfortable in the assumption that they’ll return in some way, eventually, just not anywhere they could majorly interrupt the story. Thrawn’s just in the wrong time period for them
First paragraph: No clue what you’re really trying to say. This is our experience and we’re telling anyone who wants to read it. Our truth is heard or not. If not, it is not our problem but it does not negate our truth. That is a fact. We are not here to sell the concept to anyone on Tumblr. We are in CATHARSIS due to what was seen in the finale, which we find pretty fucked up, personally.
The second paragraph: Maybe you’re right. But our intention was to include the entire Legend’s canon of Thrawn, so that there would be no doubt. But because Ysalamiri were not included, does not mean they never will be, like you said. Of course, they included RUKH but it appears he may have died. Who knows how that’s going to be dealt with? We actually do not care about Rukh.
Finally, you have zero idea what SWAG77 has endured for the last 3 weeks. Hatred on Tumblr needs to stop. Cavalierly discounting it is to invalidate an experience. Tumblr will lose content creators, and this blog is a fandom genre character. You as a general blogger can disagree with what we say. But we are only running our blog. Not yours… You chose to read our blog or not. You choose to follow our blog or not. This is not about making BFFs online, it’s about RP and some fan discussion about THRAWN IN STAR WARS. -shrugs-
