Make no misnomer, Star Wars Rebels made THRAWN as a GRAND ADMIRAL, which means he is HIGH COMMAND and he makes the strategic and tactical decisions in the military. He is the HAMMER AND HE BRINGS THE RAIN in a fight. If asked him to be there, just know his goal is to BEAT the enemy and WIN. He says what he thinks in HEIR TO THE EMPIRE:
“The complete, total, utter destruction of the Rebellion…”
Given that quote is Legends canon, then it might not hold true in Disney canon. If he feels the same way in Disney canon and he ultimately HATES the Rebels because he finds them beneath him and scruffy, then the Lucasfilm Story Group will have to JUSTIFY HIS HATE with proven story element concepts no matter how erroneous and petty they are because as a character trait, that would not be Thrawn. Thrawn does not HATE because he’s a bigot and feels superior. He hates his enemies because he knows they will destroy him, and his people and his ultimate way of life for their nefarious criminal purposes. But Chiss and their pettiness is more crafty and tricky than that. Chiss do not simply hate large swaths of beings. Genocide is reserved by threat fiat, not because they’re making a new expressway.
Besides, THRAWN was EXILED from the Chiss. Despite his LIES about it, he was kicked out of CHISS space to a level that he was forced to meet other Chiss on the outskirts of Chiss space to drop off ELI VANTO, which Thrawn bequeathed a “golden ticket ride to be exposed to Chiss culture”. Thrawn gave Vanto that ticket because “Nightswan” died. But imagine Chiss being friends to anyone…because they’re not like that. They aren’t emotional. Friendships require emotion and attachment. Chiss don’t have those necessary feelings to have friends standard to humans.
None of this internal workings is really in the Legend’s canon. It is a reading between the lines kind of thing. Most of it is found piecemeal and cobbled together through inference decided by the fan community. What people are doing here is apply what humans do emotionally and Chiss are aliens and fundamentally different.
Besides, THRAWN must like humans because if he did not, he wouldn’t speak to them, like Chaf’ormb’itrano. Moreover, it is amazing that Admiral Ara’lani picked up ELI VANTO and not some random made up Chiss that Disney could have done (believe us, they would). Thrawn and Ezra chilling adventures? No.
We assume that Pelleaon etc. were taken to wherever the Space Whales deposited them. All of them have a bone to pick with Ezra and his Force Powers. Knowing Thrawn, he’d make Ezra his bitch. Ezra’s a cuck anyway. But now, Thrawn is a teacher and a dayum good one at that. Ezra benefiting from Thrawn’s knowledge that’s not all Imperial and a lot more Chiss. Ezra being a dumbass would not appreciate it. But there are those who are of similar age, so he may or may not befriend them to flip them like Sabine tried to do. But…
Thrawn runs a tight ship. And seeing the lay of the land, knowing Thrawn, he’d create the HAND OF THRAWN in response to some of questionable beacons he has received about the Empire falling… How he does it is up for speculation. If this concept happens – it won’t be called the “Hand of Thrawn”, it will be retconned, tremendously… But the idea is something that can built upon with current fans and audiences.
Either Ezra become Thrawn’s Jedi Bitch replacing C’boath (unfortunately). Or Thrawn does kill him. Force Sensitivity be damned. Because LUKE SKYWALKER is the LAST JEDI in this timeline. Ezra cannot be a Jedi. Ahsoka isn’t a Jedi. But they’re classified as good protagonists, so…is DISNEY creating a new class of Jedi? But they won’t be called that. Or that everyone will be Jedi like they teach their Jedi classes and no one a Sith? Nightsisters? Or what?
All of this can be fan-fictionalized rather than bitched about. Tell your story. Don’t wait for Disney to tell you.
