Existential Text Messages are Juxtaposed Against Classical Paintings by April Eileen Henry
Los Angeles-based poet and artist April Eileen Henry began Texts From Your Existentialist as an outlet of creativity where she could give her poetry a visual and meaningful aid. Her work originated from the internet’s obsession with feelings of sadness, alienation and the existential dread, which is constantly delivered on a daily basis. Henry’s aim is to bring awareness to those at the pity party who are often overlooked due to their introversion or timidity. With the use of classical paintings composed by the masters like Egon Schiele, Pablo Picasso, Lucien Freud and a wide range of romantic painters, Henry composes an interesting juxtaposition between the contemporary mental psyche and classical art.
